Azure is frequently the right answer and just as frequently oversold. Lifting an ageing on-premises server into a virtual machine and calling it cloud migration usually produces something slower and more expensive than what it replaced, with the same maintenance burden and a monthly bill attached.
The useful version starts with what the workload actually is. Sometimes the answer is Azure. Sometimes it is a SaaS product that removes the server entirely. Sometimes it is keeping a machine on site because latency to a production line matters more than elegance. We would rather have that conversation honestly than sell a migration that does not pay for itself.
Where Azure is right, we design it properly: sensible network topology, identity that ties into your existing Entra ID, backup that is actually configured, governance and tagging so costs can be attributed, and monitoring so nobody discovers a runaway resource on the invoice.

The on-site element is at either end: understanding what is physically in your building and what depends on it before designing anything, and being present during cutover. Decommissioning is easier to get right when the person who planned the migration has actually stood in the server room.
Common questions
Sometimes, and not always. A like-for-like lift of an existing server into a VM often costs more over three years than replacing the hardware, because you are renting capacity continuously rather than buying it once. Azure tends to win when workloads are variable, when you need resilience that would be expensive to build physically, or when it lets you retire a server room entirely. We will model it against your actual numbers before recommending either.
Delivering a managed Windows desktop to users on devices you do not control — contractors, remote staff, personal machines, or specialist applications that need to sit close to their data. It is not automatically cheaper than issuing laptops, but where you need a controlled environment on uncontrolled hardware it solves the problem cleanly.
Yes. Azure guarantees infrastructure availability, not your data. Deletion, corruption and ransomware all replicate perfectly well. Backup has to be configured explicitly, with retention set deliberately and restores tested.
Yes. That usually starts with an assessment: what is deployed, what it costs, what is exposed, and what governance exists. Inherited environments commonly have unused resources still billing and access permissions considerably broader than anyone intended.
